Beloved dive bar Wally’s at 1001 N. Mills Ave in the Mills50 District is getting ready for its grand re-opening with a physical refresh, both inside and out. While the interior remains a mystery as to what is staying and what’s going, the exterior has received a colorful new paint job. A mid-century inspired mural has been painted on the front and a portion of the right side of the one story building. The mural is a series of peacock feather-like shapes in muted greens, reds and blues. The building’s trim has been covered in a mossy green and the original signage, exposed unpainted brick, and tiled front porch remain unchanged. The re-opening is scheduled for May 31st according to the bar’s website.
