Big Time Street Food Co. will open July 4th at at 805 E Washington Street in Thornton Park next door to a laundromat and Burtons Bar and 2 doors down from the soon-to-be-built 2 story half residential half retail building. Big Time Street Food Co. is a self-described food stand serving buffalo cauliflower, fried cheese curds, pesto fries, KFC wings, “The Burton Burger,” hotdogs, salads and three dollar sodas.
Epic Axe Throwing is currently under construction at 47 E. Robinson Street Suites 104 & 105 just two doors down from the newly opened Craft & Commons coffee and gift shop.
Ax throwing is a 2.5 hour, booked-in-advance, $35-$45 group activity for 6 to 24 people recommended for birthday parties, team-building events, bachelor/bachelorette parties, reunions or just a night out with friends. According to Forbes, axe throwing venues are a trend that started in 2011 in Canada. One chain called Urban Axes has locations in Philadelphia, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati and Durham. Tampa already has two. If you want to experience ax throwing before this first Orlando location opens, head to Tampa’s Raider Axe Lodge or Axe Throwing Tampa.

The @citybeautiful is going to SHAKE UP the old downtown Information center with the help of the local creative company at Prismatic. The redesigned center will feature a retail shop with locally made goods, a circular information desk, digital walls, large murals by the formally local and internationally known artist Boy Kong and more. The space will expand from 1,950 sq. ft. to 3,800 sq. ft. During construction the Info Center will operate a new temporary location starting Tuesday, July 10 at the CityArts Factory at the corner of Orange Avenue and Pine Street Tuesdays-Fridays from 11 a.m.-5pm.Continue Reading …

PFT Media Podcast NetworkTRANSCRIPT: A new craft beer & package store called Whippoorwill Beerhouse and Package Store is coming to the Milk District at 2425 E. South Street. The owners are shooting for a July opening. Equal parts neighborhood bar and package store, the 2,160 sq ft facility will offer beverage service including retail wine and beer sales.
Sephora is coming to Winter Park inside the Whole Foods shopping center at 1030 N Orlando Ave. The store is scheduled to open in July. Founded in 1969, Sephora offers beauty fans the chance to touch and test the products in the store. It has an app that allows users to obtain their exact skin tone to help them choose their ideal foundation, an app that allows users to try on lipstick shades and more. Sephora, with 2,300 locations in 33 countries, is “the No. 1 specialty beauty retailer in the world”
The Orlando Flea will take place Sunday September 16th 12pm-4pm at the downtown performance venue Celine Orlando at 22 S. Magnolia Ave. The indoor marketplace will feature a tightly curated collection of local and regional artisans, designers and makers, along with live music, a full bar and local bites. The Orlando Flea wants to create a community around supporting and celebrating our region’s creative small business owners. The Orlando Flea is the latest production of The Daily City.

The Daily City – #42 – Gay Pride Milkshakes

PFT Media Podcast NetworkTRANSCRIPT: A new restaurant called The Hangry Bison has opened its doors in the Winter Park Village shopping center in the former Firefly space. Located across from the movie theatre, The Hangry Bison focuses on burgers made from beef, bison and seafood. They also specialize in bourbon and beer. Some of their produce is sourced from Florida growers.

Grain & Ember, a new pizza restaurant owned by the owners of Pizzeria Roberti, will open inside Sanford’s under-construction foodhall, Henry’s Depot, later this Fall. (MAP). The food hall is in a former train depot built in 1940 located within the Downtown Commercial Historic District at 212 W. 1st Street. Recently announced tenants are Nutty Peanut a Peanut Butter Café; Dixie Dharma vegan restaurant; Twisted Greek serving gyro sandwiches; and a brewery named The Basin.Continue Reading …
