TRANSCRIPT: A large food hall is coming to Central Florida inside a development called Magic Place according to Orlando Weekly. The food hall will contain 30,000 sq ft of food and seating, feature 20 non-chain restaurants, will be called Gourmet Market, and will be located at 5500 U.S. 192 in Kissimmee, a 27 minute drive from downtown Orlando. This is only one of the many food hall projects in the works for Central Florida. Maitland City Center’s food hall-hybrid is built and awaiting tenants. Downtown Sanford’s Henry’s Depot will take shape inside a 1940s train depot. A small food hall inside the Creative Village is coming from downtown developer Craig Ustler. An outdoor food hall made from shipping containers is coming to Lake Nona. And, Oviedo Food Factory, opening late 2019, will feature a micro-restaurant row overlooking Oviedo on the Park’s main street.Continue Reading …

TRANSCRIPT: The City of Orlando Police Department has been given $54,792 to pay for officer overtime to conduct high visibility enforcement campaigns in conjunction with other education efforts to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety within the city. The funds come from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), through a Task Work Order with the University of North Florida. This is part of the Mayors Consent Agenda which goes before City Council for approval Monday August 20th.
The movie theatre at Universal Citywalk will transition from AMC to Cinemark with a grand opening set for September 15th. Moviegoers can expect “Cinemark Luxury Lounger” seats, and one new Cinemark XD auditorium which will bring “expansive wall-to-wall screens, custom-engineered surround sound with multichannel speakers and state-of-the-art projection systems capable of delivering 35 trillion colors.”Continue Reading …

TRANSCRIPT: 90 missing parking spaces are why Enzian Theatre canceled its planned $6.5 million expansion according to Orlando Sentinel. The expansion would have included 2 theaters and a lobby revamp. The City of Maitland’s 199 parking space requirement could no longer be met by Enzian when the property across the street which housed 90 of the required spots was sold. Fundraising for the project has been in movement since 2013. Everyone who donated can get their money back. What a dissappointment. This city needs more than Enzian to give our supply of art house movies. Why has no one else picked up this mantle? TRANSCRIPT: The Heavy, a new hybrid plant shop, coffee shop and event space held its grand opening last weekend at 1152 Harmon Ave inside the huge former Lombardi’s Seafood warehouse and processing plant in Winter Park. A coffee bar is expected to open there by Credo Coffee.
Guy Fieri opened a new restaurant in Orlando called “Chicken Guy!” Accented by 22 dippin’ sauces, this new Disney Springs spot sells chicken tenders, salads and sandwiches for around seven dollars.
Deeply Coffee is now open for business at 111 N. Magnolia Ave in downtown Orlando. They serve King State Coffee which is roasted in Tampa, Spiri Tea tea which is based in Chicago, and made-in-house Pearl Sugar Belgian Liege Waffles. Continue Reading …
