A new 22,400 sq ft food hall was announced for the Packing District in College Park. The hall will be housed inside the former Great Southern Box Company building on the southeast corner of Princeton Street and Orange Blossom Trail. Dating back to the 1930s, the building was originally used as an orange crate factory. The food hall, featuring an elevated outdoor plaza with shaded greenspace and additional seating for guests, is just one component of a larger plan to redevelop the 205,000 sq ft corner site. We told you awhile back that the folks behind Domu in East End Market were opening a restaurant in Mills50 called Tori Tori. Well, the City of Orlando is giving the restaurant $50,000 through its Small Business Facade, Site Improvement, and Adaptive Reuse Program to go towards improvements including adding a front porch dining area facing Mills. Domu is a busy company. Along with keeping Domu running and opening Tori Tori, they’re also working on opening a quick serve restaurant Domu Chibi Ramen in the Waterford Lakes Town Center.

TRANSCRIPT: The City of Orlando Police Department has been given $54,792 to pay for officer overtime to conduct high visibility enforcement campaigns in conjunction with other education efforts to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety within the city. The funds come from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), through a Task Work Order with the University of North Florida. This is part of the Mayors Consent Agenda which goes before City Council for approval Monday August 20th.
The movie theatre at Universal Citywalk will transition from AMC to Cinemark with a grand opening set for September 15th. Moviegoers can expect “Cinemark Luxury Lounger” seats, and one new Cinemark XD auditorium which will bring “expansive wall-to-wall screens, custom-engineered surround sound with multichannel speakers and state-of-the-art projection systems capable of delivering 35 trillion colors.”Continue Reading …
