PFT Media Podcast NetworkDemolition of some exterior features of the historically protected landmark Firestone building at 578 N. Orange Ave took place with neither permits or Historic Preservation Board review. The Architect was only given a Minor Certificate of Appropriateness to make alterations to the non historic walls and roll up doors which face Orange Avenue and Concord Street. The unapproved work included removal of exterior windows, a brick header and other historic materials.

The region’s first Biker Bar™ was installed this week in Orlando. It’s made by a company called Dero. The Biker Bar™ is a leaning rail designed to give bicyclists a place to rest a hand and foot to balance while waiting at an intersection without needing to dismount. People on bikes will no longer have to reach for the curb or a sign post to support them at traffic lights. The current system is outdated and is currently working at a 32% degradation rate with a potential risk of additional failure. The estimated amount for the upgrade is $343,849.00.  

The Mama B’s subs building at 1101 South Orange Avenue was in the midst of demolition Wednesday in the SODO District. A new Foxtail Coffee will open there soon. Watch the video.

Mills Ave is one step closer towards opening after it moved into the space two and a half years ago.  On March 8th of this year the health department conducted a food licensing inspection of the space which is what restaurants looking to open to the public request. They passed! Also, Tako Cheena is applying for a second license for the same location. It is unknown for what purpose it’s being attained. It comes with maple aioli sauce, two chicken breasts acting as buns, and a belgian waffle in the center acting as food. According to KFC Canada’s chief marketing officer Samantha Redman, this is their answer to customers asking for chicken n’ waffles.How about just offering chicken n waffles? No plans have been announced to bring this beast to the U.S. so local Orlando restaurants: you know what to do! Get it on your menu NOW. I guarantee you’ll have locals who want it.
