TRANSCRIPT: Publix is now hanging signs in their stores that explain briefly their service animal policy. The policy isn’t new or different. It’s always been in place. Now they’re just alerting the public through appropriate signage. The service animal signs say, “For food safety reasons, only service animals that are specifically trained to aid a person with disabilities are permitted within the store,” the signs say. “Service animals are not permitted to sit or ride in shopping carts. Thank you for your help!”

A new hybrid plant shop, coffee shop and event space all wrapped into one called The Heavy is coming to Winter Park at 1152 Harmon Ave inside the huge former Lombardi’s Seafood warehouse and processing plant. It’s opening weekend is August 4th and 5th. August 4th they’ll be open 10 to 9 and and August 5th 10 to 7. They’ll have several of their favorite local vendors popping up during both days.
The Heavy will offer plants and plant event services, coffee from Credo Coffee, and several large rooms perfect for special event rentals. The Heavy is a partnership between Credo Coffee and Porch Therapy. Credo Coffee operates several non-profit community-focused initiatives, but is best known for its coffee shops in College Park, the North Quarter and elsewhere. Porch Therapy creates plant and flower designs for large events as well as operates a retail storefront inside the East End Market. The two businesses are subleasing the space from the leaseholders we introduced you to May 2017: a married couple who had had similar plans for the space back then. They were planning a home mercantile store with a full coffee shop inside. Garden decor and staples, interior design services, fresh vegetables, paint and painting supplies would all be offered. That plan didn’t come to fruition. They contacted Credo Coffee and Porch Therapy and the two businesses came together to come up with the current retail and events plan for the gigantic space.
